Lilian and Michel Barton Sartorius have two children and both are inspired and involved in the family adventure. They are fully devoted to the development of Château Mauvesin Barton.
With a degree in viticulture and oenology, Melanie continues her studies at the University in Burgundy more about the sciences of the vine in Dijon. She then returned to Bordeaux where she obtained the National Diploma in Oenology. Melanie is the first oenologist in the long line of Bartons.
Returning to Mauvesin Barton in 2013, she concentrated her energy on the quality of the wine, in close collaboration with the cellar master Bruno Petit. As Mélanie explains “We planned a progressive policy of removing and replacing vines with more suitable root stocks. We are also abandoning weed killing by more suitable ploughing of the soil. It is not enough to concentrate on vinification ; what is of great importance is the global care of our work”.
She is also keen on riding and photography. This internet site is indeed illustrated with her own pictures.
